A Season of Giving and Celebration: Kiwanis Sydney Community Update

The final quarter of 2025 was one of the busiest and most rewarding periods in recent memory for the Kiwanis Club of Sydney. From successful fundraisers to heartfelt school celebrations and milestone personal events, our members and friends have been working tirelessly to serve the community. Here is an in-depth look at how we’ve been making an impact.

Record-Breaking Fundraising Success

Our monthly Bunnings barbeques in October, November, and December were a massive triumph, collectively raising over $8,000 for our charitable projects. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our valuable helpers, including “friends of Kiwanis” like Emily, who dedicated her time to cooking up the sausages and onions that keep the crowds coming back.

Beyond our general fundraising, we used these events to host “donation pots” for several urgent causes. The community showed incredible compassion toward the Bondi Beach Tragedy appeal, contributing $850 to help those affected. Additionally, we collected significant donations for Share the Dignity and Father Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets, ensuring our reach extends to the most vulnerable members of our society.

Celebrating Our “Terrific Kids”

Our commitment to local education continued through the Terrific Kids awards program. In November and December, our members—including Jeff, Angelique, Sree, Heidi, Steve, and Cathy—visited Sir Eric Woodward School (SEWS), Broderick Gillawarna School (BGS), and Warrah Specialist School.

These end-of-year presentations are a special opportunity to recognise students who have demonstrated exceptional character, improvement, and effort throughout Term 4. It is a privilege to see the pride on the children’s faces as they receive their awards, reinforcing our mission to support and empower the next generation.

Joy and Laughter at BGS Fun Day

On Tuesday, December 16th, we were honoured to support the Broderick Gillawarna School (BGS) for their annual Fun Day. It was a fantastic day filled with smiles and laughter as students and their families enjoyed face painting, a petting zoo, jumping castles, and clowns.

To keep everyone energised, a dedicated team of twelve volunteers from Bloomberg, led by our member Belinda, represented Kiwanis Sydney by preparing, cooking, and serving a full sausage sizzle for the entire school community. The Bloomberg team’s enthusiasm was a highlight of the event, perfectly capturing the spirit of service that defines our club.

A Historic Club Milestone

Finally, we are overjoyed to share some wonderful personal news from within our Kiwanis family. On December 1st, Kiwanian Saroj and his wife Aditi welcomed their second daughter into the world. This is a historic moment for us, as it marks the first birth to a Kiwanis Sydney member in recent memory.

The good news for Saroj’s family doesn’t end there; his employer, Summit Care, has officially agreed to sponsor him in achieving his Australian citizenship after three years of dedicated work in Australia. We are thrilled to celebrate these milestones with them and wish their growing family every happiness for the future.
