Kiwanis Club of Sydney: Our Mission

At the Kiwanis Club of Sydney, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community by empowering children and improving their lives. Our mission is simple yet profound: to serve the children of the world through meaningful and engaging community service initiatives. We believe in fostering an environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Who We Are

Founded on the principles of compassion, leadership, and community spirit, the Kiwanis Club of Sydney brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal of making a difference. Our members are passionate volunteers committed to enhancing the lives of children through hands-on projects, fundraising events, and partnerships with local organisations. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Pennant Hills Library, Corner of Ramsay and Yarrara Roads, Pennant Hills, NSW 2120.

Our Connection to the Australian District

The Kiwanis Club of Sydney is a proud part of the Kiwanis Australia District, a network of Kiwanis clubs across the country. The Australia District helps coordinate efforts, share resources, and amplify the impact of community service projects across the nation. Being part of this district allows us to benefit from the collective experience and support of fellow Kiwanis members across Australia. It also enables us to participate in larger-scale projects and initiatives that address broader community needs.

Our Place in the Global Kiwanis Community

The Kiwanis Club of Sydney is also integral to the global Kiwanis International family, a worldwide organisation with over 600,000 members in more than 80 countries. This international connection provides us with access to a vast network of knowledge, expertise, and resources. It allows us to collaborate on global initiatives and bring innovative solutions to local challenges. By being part of this larger community, we contribute to a global mission of improving the lives of children and communities around the world.

What We Do

From providing essential school supplies and sensory toys to supporting special education programs, our initiatives are varied and designed to meet the unique needs of our community. Here are a few of our recent projects:

  • Terrific Kids Awards: Celebrating students’ achievements and personal growth at Broderick Gillawana School, Sir Edward Woodward School and Warrah Specialist School.
  • VegePods for Sir Edward Woodward and Lidcombe Public School: Providing mobile gardens for sensory and educational activities.
  • Back to School Packs: Supplying backpacks with essentials and a sensory toy library for students in need at Lidcombe Public School.
  • Broderick Gillawana School Fun Day and Formal: Partnering with Bloomberg to host a barbecue and celebrating Year 12 graduates.
  • Harding Miller Scholarships: Supporting scholarships for high-achieving girls in financial need.
  • Rainbow Children’s Home: Providing annual donations to an orphanage in Nepal since 2015.
  • Clean-Up Australia Day: Contributing to environmental efforts through local clean-ups and so many more initiatives Australia-wide and internationally.

Why We Do It

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience joy, education, and a sense of belonging. Our projects aim to remove barriers and create opportunities for children from all walks of life. By focusing on local needs, we strive to create a supportive and nurturing community where children can grow, learn, and thrive.
